Obituary

Betty Marie (Hoffman) Casaday, 90, Bellwood passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, October 4, 2020 at her home with her family at her bedside, after a several year battle with Alzheimer disease. She was born Jan. 15, 1930 in Bellwood, daughter of the late William S. and Frances W. (Trout) Hoffman.
On Dec. 21, 1950, she married Richard B. Casaday, Sr. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bellwood. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2015.
Surviving are her daughter, Cindy M. (Charles) McConnell of Bellwood; a son, Richard B., Jr. of Bellwood; and a grandson, Kenny McConnell of Bellwood. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Lee, who died at age 19 in 1973, due to injuries from a traffic accident. Betty was the last of her immediate family, preceded by a sister, Gladys L. Andresen and three brothers, Leonard, and Richard and William.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Bellwood Antis High School and retired as a bookkeeper at Cornmesser’s Hardware Store, Bellwood. She was a lifelong member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bellwood. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, doing puzzles, watching television game shows and spending time at Spring Lake Sportsman Club with her friends.

Her family wishes to thank the staff of Arista Care-Huntingdon Park and AseraCare Hospice for the excellent care and kindness given to Betty during her illness.

To honor her wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation. A graveside service will be held
at the convenience of her family. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Betty’s memory be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bellwood.
