Obituary for Donald E. Mills
Donald E. Mills, 88, Antis Township, died Monday morning October 19, 2020 at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born January 11, 1932 in Antis Township, son of the late Donald R. and Ruby J. (Weston) Mills.
On March 26, 1955, he married Josephine J. Imler at Bellwood Church of the Brethren, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2012.
Surviving are his three children, Donald A. (Rhonda) of Antis Township, Nancy J. (John) Coho of Reston, Va., and Janet G. Mills of Antis Township; six grandchildren, Christina, Lauren, Travis, Samuel, Isaac and Stephanie; and six great grandchildren.
Don was a 1950 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and served in the US Navy on the USS Tripoli during the Korean War. He retired as an OEM sales manager at Veeder-Root, Duncansville.
He was a member of Tyrone Church of the Brethren and a former member of Bellwood Church of the Brethren, where he served as deacon. For 41 years, Don was an active member of the Bellwood-Antis Lions Club. He also served as District Governor for District 14- L in 2003-04 and 2008-09. He served as a board member for the PA Lions Northeast Foundation holding the office of treasurer. Don was a longtime member of the Bellwood-Antis Farm Show Committee, as well as the Bellwood-Antis Community Picnic Committee. He enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 pm, Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Tyrone Church of the Brethren. A funeral service will be held at 6pm Thursday at the church, Pastor Eric Feather officiating. Interment will be at Antis Cemetery, Antis Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Don’s memory be made to PA Lions Northeast Foundation, 2346 Jacksonville, Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18017 or Camp Blue Diamond, Inc., P.O. Box 240 Petersburg, PA 16669.
