Obituary for Dorothy M. Benn (Hollen)
Dorothy M. Benn, 95, of Sinking Spring, passed away Monday evening, May 9, 2022 at Willow Brook, Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kutztown, after an extended illness.
She was born January 3, 1927 in Bellwood, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Luella D. (Miller) Hollen
On Jan. 3, 1947, she married Robert M. Benn of whom she had shared 67 years of marriage before his death on March 16, 2014.
Surviving are her five children, Susan J. (Joseph) Berardi of Sierra Vista, AZ, Thomas R. (Kim) of Mohnton, Timothy R. (Colleen) of West Branch, MI, Joan M. (Larry) Latshaw of Sinking Spring, and Bonnie J. (David) Spotts of Lemont; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Ann; and three siblings, Harold A. and Guy D. Hollen, and B. Ann Hall.
Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Bellwood Antis High School. She was a member of Wiest Memorial United Methodist Church, Schoeneck, where she served as organist for many years.
Dorothy and her husband played in the “Happy Trio” where she played the bass fiddle.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, and camping where they played music around the campfire.
Friends will be received from 11am to 1pm, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc., Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
