Dorothy M. “Dot” McGeary

Dorothy M. “Dot” McGeary, 99, of Bellwood passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2022 at her home, after a battle with sarcoma cancer.
She was born March 20, 1923 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Benz) Painter.
Dot will be reunited with her beloved husband, Elmer McGeary who she married
March 26, 1949 in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1978.
She is survived by her children; Ronald (Sue) McGeary and Nancy (Rock) Keiser, both of the Bellwood area; a daughter in law, Kathie McGeary of Altoona; 5 grandchildren; Mark (Debbie), Sara, and Michael McGeary, Bethany (Gregg) Danella, and Tracy Merrits-Keiser; 6 great grandchildren; and her two sisters, 94 year old Betty Ketrow of Lehighton and 91 year old Mary Lou Lawruk of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas McGeary in 2020; a grandson, Brian Keiser in 2021; and siblings, Ed Painter and Pauline Ruffley.
She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Dot’s family was her whole world and they were blessed to have such a wonderful mother and grandmother
Friends will be received from 2 to 4pm, Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 4pm, Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Guyer officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
The family suggests that contributions in Dorothy’s memory be made to Central Penna Humane Society, Altoona.
