Obituary for Douglas J. McCartney

Douglas J. McCartney, 58, Blandburg died Tuesday morning, September 15, 2020 at UPMC Altoona after a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 27, 1961 in Altoona, son of Jean A. (Wilson) and the late George L. McCartney.
Surviving are his mother of Blandburg; two brothers, Perry J. of Bluemont, Va. and Mark B. (Delcie) of Leesburg, Va.; a sister, Georgean L. (Zach) of Duncansville; and two nieces, four nephews, two grand nieces and three grand nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bradley S.
Doug was a graduate of Glendale High School and was employed as a police officer at UPMC Altoona Police Department. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was also a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11am Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A private family service will be held at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
The family suggests that contributions in Doug’s memory be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
