Obituary for Douglass G. Miller

Douglass G. Miller, 59, of Bellwood, died Saturday afternoon, February 18, 2023 at UPMC Altoona, surrounded by his family, after a nearly six year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born February 12, 1964 in Altoona, a son of B. Glenn and Carol (Burns) Miller. On June 8, 1991, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Melissa J. Brown at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Victoria (Alex) Watters of DuBois; a son, Dawson G., at home; his granddaughter, Sienna Watters, and an expected granddaughter in May; his parents of Bellwood; his twin brother, Scott (Trish) of Bellwood; his sister, Marilyn (James) Peterson of State College; a sister in law, Irina Miller of State College; brothers and sisters in law, Vickie (Joe) Harbula and James (Linda) Brown, all of Bellwood; many beloved nieces and nephews; and an aunt and uncle.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Byron and Stephen; and his father and mother in law, Jim and Shirley Brown.
Doug was a 1982 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, where he played high school basketball. He was a general contractor and owner of D.G. Miller Construction, Bellwood. He attended New Life Assembly of God, Pinecroft and was a member of F.O.E., Bellwood.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed attending his son’s high school basketball games at Bellwood-Antis. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing little league baseball, and he later sponsored the
“D.G. Miller Construction” minor league baseball team.
Doug loved his children and granddaughter, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Weds., Feb. 22, 2023 and 10 to 11am, Thurs,
Feb. 23, 2023 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held
at 11am Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Wayne Shaffer officiating.
