Obituary for Frederick William "Bill" Brandt Jr.
Frederick William “Bill” Brandt, Jr., 82, of Altoona died Friday morning, January 20, 2023 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born December 29, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Frederick W. and Nell (Haile) Brandt. On July 20, 1963, he married Judith A. Manley at First Presbyterian Church, Altoona.
Surviving are his beloved wife; a daughter, Elizabeth K. of Altoona; and a sister in law, Janice Umbower of Antis Township. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Woods and Estelle Elizabeth Brandt.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School and in 1963 earned his college degree at Susquehanna University. He taught mathematics at Altoona Area School District and computer programming at Altoona Area Vocational Technical School. Bill was a tax preparer for many years at H&R Block, and he donated his time to Blair Senior Services helping their clients with tax preparation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery, Antis Township.
The family suggests that contributions in Bill’s memory be made to ARC of Blair County.
