Obituary for Gerald Lee McCloskey Sr.

Gerald Lee McCloskey, Sr., 84, Bellwood died Thursday evening, June 4, 2020, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. He was born February 8, 1936 in Bellwood, son of the late Lee Roy and Margaret (Myers) McCloskey. On June 6, 1959, he married Marjorie L. Fonner at First Brethren Church, Altoona
by the Rev. Ralph Burns.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years; three children, Gerald L. Jr. (Paula), Bonita S. (Rocky) Trundle, and Galen T.(Joni) all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Melisa, Stephanie, Bryce, Andres’, Ben and Averie; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Smith; sisters in law, Ann Stahl and Sondra Lewis; and a niece and nephews, Debra Rutter and Dennis and Lynn Smith.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Pamela Martinez; sisters and brothers in law, Patricia Thompson, Lucinda Acker, Robert Stahl, Thomas Acker, Daniel DeLozier, Bucky Lewis, and Ted Wisor.
Gerald was a 1954 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. He served in the US Navy from 1955-57 and was stationed on the USS Massey 778 Destroyer as a torpedoman. He was formerly employed at West Virginia Pulp and Paper, Tyrone for 17 years and in 1998, he retired from PPG Works #27, Tipton after 28 years of service.
Gerald enjoyed fishing, gardening, making sauerkraut, sitting on the swing, and camping especially at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. He was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan.

A service to celebrate Gerald’s life will be held at 11am, Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. Friends will be received from 9am until the 11am time of service on July 14, 2020 at the funeral home, with Pastor Rob Davis officiating. Interment at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
