Obituary for Gloria Mae Hollis (Thomas)

Gloria Mae Hollis, 77, of Centerville, passed away from her body to be at home with the Lord Jesus (II Cor. 5:8) on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
She was born May 3, 1943 in Fallentimber, Pa. daughter of the late Frances and William Thomas. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Thomas and sister, Yvonne Noel.
On August 20, 1966, she was united in marriage to Pastor John H. Hollis, who survives her, along with a daughter, Treva Crawford and husband, Grant of Centerville. She is also survived by a brother William Thomas and wife, Joyce of Florida; along with many nieces and nephews.
Gloria Mae was a 1961 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and Altoona Beauty Academy in 1962. She and husband, John, along with friends started Bedford Valley Bible Church in 1973. She taught children, planned social events, and did all the duties at church and home of a loving pastor’s wife. In the community, she was also involved in Girl Scouts, 4H, and the recreation association.
Gloria Mae was an outstanding cook. She joyfully welcomed hundreds of guests into her home for meals, including dozens of missionaries from all over the world. Her concern for others and her desire to make others happy was extraordinary.
We are looking forward to being reunited with her when Jesus comes back (I Thes. 4:16-18).
If you are not sure of eternal life, may her life be a testimony for you to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Friends are invited to gather beginning at 12:30pm, Sunday, December 13, 2020 in the parking area at Bedford Valley Bible Church, 3174 Reservoir Rd. Bedford (Centerville) for a homecoming service that will begin at 1:30pm, held in the parking lot. Please practice social distancing.
