Obituary for Helen M. Harpster (Shaffer)
Helen M. Harpster, 90, a resident of Graystone, Tyrone, died early Monday morning, January 25, 2021 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona, after a brief illness.
She was born November 14, 1930 in Hensheytown, Antis Township, daughter of the late Eugene E. and Alice V. (McGlinsey) Shaffer. She was first married to Clair Russell Friday, she then married Melvin E. Harpster on July 2, 1959 in Bellwood, and he preceded her in death on Feb.3, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, Debbie (Donald) Blazier of Bellwood; two grandchildren, Stephanie D. (Curt) Fulmer of Bellwood and Michael D. (Tyne) Blazier of Tipton; and four great grandsons, Luke, Ben, Jason and Hunter. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Shaffer.
Helen was a 1948 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and a member of Tyrone Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers games with her Graystone friends.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
