Obituary for James Christopher Werner

James Christopher Werner, 82, of Tipton died Monday, May 30, 2022. He was born May 9, 1940 in Elizabeth Township, the youngest child of the late William and Grace (Gephart) Werner.
He worked many years as a manager for medical supply companies, but his heart was in the outdoors. He followed this passion as an avid hunter, gardener and planter of food plots for wildlife. He loved nature journaling and identifying species at his bird feeders and on his trail cams. He spent the last 20 years working to restore and maintain the Werner Family Cabin, built in 1949 by his parents and his sister, Madeline and her husband.
James was a loving caregiver to his wife of 46 years, Nancy, who passed away in December 2021 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, and also his son, Joseph who passed away in 2001 from a severe head injury.
Surviving are his two children, Nola Barton, and husband, John and James C. Werner, Jr., and wife, Tia; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a step daughter, Glenda; and siblings, William, Mildred Arico, Madeline Fabian Lyon, Charles, Wilbert, Paul, Ralph and Oleda Shoemaker.
Private interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood, followed by a memorial gathering and tree planting at the Werner Family Cabin.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in James’ memory be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd. Altoona, PA 16602
