Obituary

Janet L. Cherry, 82, Bellwood went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, July 25, 2020 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. She was born on November 21, 1937 in Altoona, daughter of the late Russell N., Sr. and Dorothy M. (Shultz) Whetstine. On Oct. 24, 1955, she married David Leonard “Leo” Cherry at Independent Bible Church, Altoona.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Mike L. (Lisa) of Fostoria, Mark E.of Bellwood and Dave W. (Lisa) of Tipton; a daughter, Debra K. (Alex) Sitman of Bellwood; nine grandchildren, Ryan Cherry, Angela Stonebraker, Adam Cherry, Matthew Sitman, Melissa Deater, Christopher Cherry, Amanda Bartlebaugh, Alicia and Megan Cherry; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Russell N. (Kathie) Whetstine, Jr. of Duncannon; and a sister, Elizabeth M. “Betty” Evans of Bellwood. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest E. Whetstine.
Janet retired as a cafeteria worker at Bellwood Antis High School. She was a member of Faith Bible Church, Bellwood. She loved to sing and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of her family. Interment at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
