Obituary for John W. McConnell

John W. McConnell, 77, Riggles Gap, passed away December 19, 2020 at his home with his family by his side, after an extended illness.
He was born May 19, 1943 in Altoona, son of the late Fannie Ravina (James) McConnell.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathie (Cross); and three daughters, April (Ed Faust) Narehood, Sheri McConnell and Beth (Mark Shannon) McConnell. John was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Matt (Brandy) Kirsch, Danielle (Corey) Crist, Eric (Sierra) Kirsch, Tyler (Natasha) Narehood, Casey (Justin) Hartman, Colton (Amanda) Narehood and Paul (Nicole) Dreibelbis; and ten great grandchildren, Sadie, Camilla, Elvis, Gunnar, Maliya, Landon, Jonah, Eli, Owen, and Tucker. He is also survived by three sisters, Gloria Keith, Annatrean Rossman and Christine Simpson. He was preceded by seven brothers and three sisters.
John was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and in 1999, he retired from Faith Vending, Co., after 35 years of service.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his great grandkids, playing games, always making sure they won, and just enjoying them learning and watching them grow. He also enjoyed spending time with his pets and riding his four-wheeler through the woods.
There will be no public viewing. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of his family.
The family suggests that contributions in his memory be made to Central Penna Humane Society.
