Obituary for Kae I Parks (Parks)
Kae I. Parks, 87, Harrisburg, formerly of Altoona, died late Monday evening, Nov 2, 2020 at home.
She was born Nov. 15, 1932 in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles A. and Hazel A. (Mountain) Parks.
Surviving are a niece, Hazel A. Parks, with whom she resided; a nephew, Kim A. Parks, Jr.;
10 great nieces and a great nephew; 17 great-great nieces and nephews; and cousins, Ken and Donald Mountain. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kim A. Parks, Sr.
Kae was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education at Penn State University, and then received her doctorate degree at Columbia University, New York. She formerly taught at Roosevelt Jr. High School, Altoona and later retired as a professor of English and American History at Penn State -Altoona Campus.
Kae had a love for poetry and also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and attending family birthday parties. Her love of cats was great and showed by the many cats she rescued over the years.
Friends will be received from noon to 2pm, Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday at the funeral home, with her great niece, Sharon, officiating. Interment will be at Antis Cemetery, Antis Township.
