She was born July 26, 1953 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Chester H. and GeorgeAnna (Cramer) Collier.
On Dec. 23, 1978, she married Kenneth M. “Herbie” Gibbons at Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
Surviving are her husband; a son, David M. (Shabnam Assar) of Breinigsville; a daughter, Sharon A. Hough, at home; her granddaughter, Alyssa; and two brothers, Michael B. (Tracey) Collier of Bellwood, and C. Timothy (Kari) Collier of Pinecroft.

She retired as a 4th grade school teacher at Bellwood-Antis School District after 35 years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood, and her faith was very important to her.
Karen was very social and enjoyed calling her friends and also attending breakfast and lunch gatherings with her teaching colleagues and friends. She was also very creative and enjoyed making all types of crafts, and she also loved to sing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Alyssa.
“There’s magic in a Mother’s touch, and sunshine in her smile. There’s love in everything she does to make our lives worthwhile. We can find both hope and courage just by looking in her eyes. Her laughter is a source of joy, her words are warm and wise. There is a kindness and compassion to be found in her embrace, and we see the light of heaven shining from a Mother’s face.”
Friends will be received from noon to 2pm, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday at the funeral home, with Norm Saylor officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
The family suggests that contributions in Karen’s memory be made to Parkinson’s Foundation or Bellwood-Antis Public Library.
