Obituary for M. Joann "Jo" Davis (Shade)
M. Joann “Jo” Davis, 95, Greenwood died Sunday morning November 22, 2020 at Altoona Center
for Nursing Care.
She was born October 5,1925 in Altoona, daughter of the late John T. and Rose (Lynch) Shade.
On Aug. 27, 1963, she married Gerald E. Davis in Winchester, Va., and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Gary T. of Greenwood; a brother, Theodore L. Shade of Altoona; and two sisters, Dr. Janet S. Kuhn of Silver Spring, Md. and Rose Marie Keller of Altoona.
She was a 1944 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She was of the Christian faith.
Jo had a great passion for dogs and retired as a kennel owner in Greenwood where she also groomed dogs and specialized in breeding toy poodles. She loved horses and riding horses and was instrumental in bringing the first Arabian horses to Blair County. Jo especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Sat., Nov. 28, 2020 at the funeral home. A further celebration of Jo’s life will also be announced in the summer of 2021. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
