Obituary for Martha B. Schaul (Coover)
Martha B. Schaul, 83, Altoona, died Sunday evening, January 3, 2021 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. She was born December 11, 1937 in Tipton, daughter of the late Elmer F. and Laura M. (Bousum) Coover.
She was twice married, first to Harry C. Bartlebaugh, who died Sept. 29, 1972. In 1977, she married William L. Schaul and he also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, David Lee Bartlebaugh of Altoona; a nephew, Michael Lee Carper; nieces, Brenda Ball and Rita Carter. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Elmer J., Jr., Hazel Rhodes and Eileen Carper.
Martha was a 1957 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and attended Philipsburg State Hospital School of Nursing. In 1985, she received her paralegal certification from Penn State-Altoona.
Martha was employed as an LPN with Tyrone and Altoona Hospitals from 1960-1972. She then served twenty-four years as a private duty nurse, including seven years as a tracheostomy nurse in Blair and Cambria counties, retiring in 1996.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in March of 1960. She enjoyed Bible discussions and visiting with ones who wanted to learn more about God’s word.
Due to COVID 19, services will be private. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
