Obituary for Richard H. "Rick/Rich" Shawley III

Richard H. “Rick/Rich” Shawley, III, 33, of Tipton, died Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home.
He was born July 25, 1989 in Leonardtown, Md., the first-born son of Richard H., Jr. and Laura J. (Pearce) Shawley.
Surviving are his parents of Tipton; two brothers, Kyle (Britney) of Four Oaks, North Carolina and Keith (Jessica) of Juniata; a sister, Kelsey Shawley of Clayton, North Carolina; his girlfriend, Brittany “Betty” Wheland of Altoona; grandparents, Harold and Donna Pearce and Betz Shawley; aunts and uncles, Rhonda (Bob) Hocutt, Brenda (Ray) Rodgers, Susan (Jeff) Eckhard and Scott (Terri) Pearce; his beloved puppies, Egg Roll and Chopstick; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard H. Shawley.
Rick was a 2007 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School where he was a member of the wrestling and track and field teams. He was a U.S. Army veteran and graduated top honors at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he also served with the Army National Guard.
He was employed as a forklift operator at PGW, Tipton and also as a security guard at the Logan Valley Mall.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed working out, lifting weights, golfing, camping, and Penn State wrestling.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8pm, Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 and 11am to noon, Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service, with military honors, will be held at noon on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor John Winesickle officiating.
