Robert T. Yerty, 85, a resident of Hillview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Altoona died Friday afternoon, February 28, 2020 at the center.
He was born November 1, 1934 in Altoona, son of the late Joseph C. and Julia F. (Teeter) Yerty.
On Sept. 7, 1957, he married Eleanor M. Carlheim in Altoona, and she preceded him in death on Mar. 19, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Paula K. McFarland and Melissa D. (Timothy A. Billotte) Yerty, both of Altoona; three grandchildren, Holly Loupe, Shawn Amick and Devan Billotte; two great grandchildren, Dayton Strength and Vivian Loupe ; and six siblings, Rudy, Ronald, Richard, Michael and Shirley Yerty and Pamela Peterson. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen E.; and seven siblings, Harry, Kenneth, Joseph, Dennis, Archie, and Daniel Yerty and Kathleen Latteria.
Robert first retired as a machinist at Automotive Supply Co., Altoona and later retired as a maintenance technician at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. He was a member of the former Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, Altoona.
He enjoyed sportsmen’s gun shooting competitions, hunting, fishing, and vacationing with his family in Ontario, Canada to fish. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, Devan.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6pm, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 6pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to his family.
