Obituary

Rosemarie McGinnis, 62, Altoona passed unexpectedly Thursday evening March 12, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, as a result of complications from a surgical procedure.
She was born June 3, 1957 in Somerset, daughter of the late William and Betty (Konitsky) Shank. On Nov. 24, 1984, she married Patrick McGinnis in Altoona.
Rose will be dearly missed by all who loved her, including her husband; two daughters, Lyndsi (Jason) Yarkosky and Lauren (Eric) McCrum; two grandsons, Evan (age 5) and Owen (age 9 months) Yarkosky; and her expectant grandchild McCrum. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Shank.
She was a 1975 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and she attended Penn State University.
Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and devoted friend to many.
She was proud to be called “The best Gammy ever”. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, shopping with her girls, trips to the beach, and naps with her dogs, Abbie and Ellie. Rose also found joy in her relationships with the children and coworkers at her work as a special education assistant at McAuliffe Heights School through the Altoona School District.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 4:30 to 6:30 pm, Monday, March 16, 2020 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm Monday at the funeral home, Pastor David Stiles officiating.

The family suggests that contributions in Rosemarie’s memory be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, Altoona.
