Obituary for Stephen J. Arendt

Stephen J. Arendt, 86, Altoona, died Friday evening, April 22, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown.
He was born September 12, 1935 in Chicago, a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Blaszczak) Arendt.
On Sept. 19, 1959, he married Jacqueline M. Witkus at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chicago, Ill.
Surviving are his beloved wife; his three children, Alice (Richard) Flarend of Altoona, Steve (Susan) of Longmont, Colorado, and Janet (Allen) Yorek Basey of Litchfield, New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Michael, Aurora, Mariana, Geneva, and Chadric; and a sister, Lorraine Wright.
Stephen was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving during the Korean Conflict.
He retired as an electrician at Portland Cement Association, Skokie, Ill., and was previously employed at Illinois Central Railroad and Republic Steel, both in Chicago He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood. Stephen was a master angler.
A private graveside service, with military honors, will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona at the convenience of his family.
