Timothy Leo Sopata, 70, of Lancaster, South Carolina, formerly of Altoona, died Saturday morning March 18, 2023 as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
He was born May 12, 1952 in Altoona, a son of the late John and Gloria (Brown) Sopata. On April 19, 1986, he married Patricia Eleanor Nemic in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; four children, Katlyn Nicole Moore, Joshua David, Zachary Daniel and Megan Leigh Sopata; and six grandchildren, Abbigale and Austin Ritchey, Olivia and Sydney Moore, and Mila and Kobe Small. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Randy.
Timothy was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and served in the US Marine Corps from 1970 -1978. He retired as an equipment manager at PennDot, Bedford. He was of the Catholic faith and had formerly attended The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.
Tim was a Ford Mustang and Harley Davidson enthusiast. He loved all sports but especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football.
Tim was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed deeply.
To honor his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
