Obituary

Barbara A. “Tita” Forshey, 75, Bellmeade, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon September 6, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 5, 1944 in Altoona, daughter of the late Aleck C. and Marie C. (Karl) Joseph. On January 22, 1966, she married James A. Forshey at Calvary Baptist Church, Altoona.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 54 years; three daughters, Jamie L., and Christy M. DeGennaro, both of Altoona and Dana A. (Tim) Johnston, of Antis Township; a son, Brian J. of Altoona; seven grandchildren, special granddaughter, Alicia (Rick) Luchini, Kyle (Kate) DeGennaro, Haden (Kira) DeGennaro, Bailey Kudlawiec, and Blake, Corey and Ethan Johnston; 5 great-grandchildren, Alivia, Vivian, Elaina, Sophia and Giselle; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Moyer and Debra Joseph both of Altoona; and a special nephew, Matthew (Rachael) Moyer.
She was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School. Barbara was a longtime active member of Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg, where she did various volunteer work and was also a member of the Ladies Fellowship. She volunteered her time at the Salvation Army where she was also a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She cherished spending time with her many friends playing cards, Bunco and traveling. She also enjoyed living in Florida during the winter months.
Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother and Tita. She loved her children and grandchildren more than anything and treasured every moment with them. She was welcoming and accepting of everyone and therefore, made friends everywhere she went. Once a person became part of her circle, they were considered to be family. Her life was a living example of faith, strength, courage, compassion and love. She not only positively impacted the lives of her loved ones but all those who came in contact with her. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8pm Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020 and 10 to 11am Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 at Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am Friday at the church, with Pastors Daren Ritchey and Lou Hileman officiating. A private interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
The family suggests that contributions in Barbara’s memory be made to Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg.
